Christian Community Ministries have launched their newest appeal to help raise funds for shoes for children in India. It's a very simple way to help CCM and it won't cost you a penny! All we need you to do is donate your shoes - too old, too small, too tatty, too high, too low - whatever your reason for not wanting them any longer is the very reason we can use them. |

CCM has been involved in the work in India for a number of years and have been able to help finance the construction of church buildings. As we have come to know more about the other work that is happening in India we have realised there are other ways in which these people desperatly need our help and so we have launched our SOS Appeal - Save Our Soles for the barefoot children of India.
Most of us learnt at school the simple equation that 1+1=2 and 2+2=4 and so on, but in India there is a simple equation that prevents children from even getting to school:
No Shoes = No Education
It may not be logical and it may make little sense but it's true; without shoes children in India are not allowed to attend school. WIth no education these children stand little chance of getting a good job and without a good job they have little or no chance of escaping the cycle of poverty they are living in.
To help them escape this cycle we need your old shoes, slippers, trainers, boots, sandals - any footwear, in any condition. Perhaps you've only worn a pair of shoes once but gone off them because they gave you blisters or you've worn your favourite pair right out - it makes no difference to us. We will take them off your hands, sell them or recycle them and all the funds we generate will go to buy new shoes for Indian children. We know that:
New shoes = education
and with an education these children will learn the simple equation that 1+1=2 and perhaps go on to learn that:
education = job
job = hope
