Whilst we have focused primarily on Romania for the majority of the charity's life, we have always been looking for other projects to support. We get many requests and sometimes a real gem comes along that seems to spark something within us...
A church in Hydrabad is involved in the training of new pastors ready to take on small church plants in outlying villages. The church buildings that people are meeting in are small and made of the most temporary materials. Most are made of reeds and rushes although we have seen one that was made of asbestos. There are no pews, chairs or even carpets; people just sit on the floor - the hard packed earth. There are no windows, no door - just the opening, and minimal means of ventilation. Of course if it rains too hard, the village runs the risk of loosing it's church altogether.
These villagers are desperate for a permanent building in which to meet. They are not looking for elaborate buildings but for a simple, modest place where they can meet together, meet with their Father and worship Him. The cost to build a simple church 8 metres by 7 metres is, believe it or not, £1,500. For an extra £800, the Pastor could have a house built next door. Neither of these buildings would be elaborate but they would have solid foundations, secure walls, leak-proof roofs and doors and windows.
We at CCM believe that it is right for us to support this work and have launched our Recycle 4 India Appeal to help raise funds for new church buildings. For more information click here. In simple terms, collect your spent ink cartridges and toners and send them to us and we send them to be recycled. The amount we get paid depends on the cartridge but every little bit will add up towards providing a new place of worship in India. We can also take mobile phones of any condition.
